So this is just a quick little help blog post … nothing too fancy. But i have to say i’ve got “many” questions via twitter & co. about that thingy.
Here is the issue … MacOS X Snow Leopard dosn’t come with Quicktime7 Pre-Installed . But for say mp4 / vimeo encoding or timelapse processing that thing can come in handy
… so unless you installed the system by yourself – which is usually not the case if you buy a new Mac – you have to Install QT7 afterwards. Some say you have to use the SnowLeopard Installation DVD or the Extra Software DVD …
BUT there is even a much simpler & faster way … just go to: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL923 download that thing and you are done! … how easy was that 😉 …After the installation you can find QT7 in Applications/Utilities
BTW QuickTime 7.6.9 you may find on the Apple Quicktime Webside doesn’t work with SnowLeopard (how odd is this) … you only can use Version 7.6.6 form the link above)
Oh and one more thing: The online version as well as the “Mac OS X Installation DVD Version” is QuickTime Player 7 only… you have to have the extra Pro Licence or FCP Studio (which includes a Pro Licence) to make it to QuickTime7 Pro
Thank you you just saved my life (almost) !
sure thing 😉
